| We created our Avengers Heroes page to highlight and pay homage to some of the loving people that have given our furry rescues a second chance at life and love! We are so grateful to everyone that has supported Animal Avengers and we just wanted to share some of our success stories with you! |

Bandit,
is a handsome five year old black Labrador retriever. Everyone who meets him immediately falls under the spell of his soulful brown eyes. Unfortunately, his prior owner moved to an apartment with a weight restriction for dogs of fifty pounds, half of Bandit’s original weight. He gave up Bandit but, luckily called Animal Avengers prior to taking Bandit to the shelter.
We requested that the owner have Bandit neutered and provided him with a low-cost veterinary clinic who would perform the surgery. Then, one of our dedicated volunteers, Kay, picked him up. Because Bandit had been left outside unsupervised, he managed to open his incision by licking it! Kay took him to her vet, who repaired his wound and kept him in the hospital for a week. Although Bandit was gorgeous, he was eighteen pounds overweight and suffering from poor nutrition. Too much junk food! Despite all these problems, Bandit is a wonderful, friendly dog, who loves attention! Because we didn’t have an open foster care home, we sent him to a fantastic doggie daycare center, I Dig My Dog, in Pasadena. Bandit’s dieting days began as he basically went on a spa vacation! He ate right, exercised and played frequently and left I Dig My Dog, a svelte fifteen pounds lighter!! His big brown eyes reflected his happiness from receiving love and attention. On the weekends, Kay picked him up and took him to Animal Avengers adoptions at Petsmart in Woodland Hills. After about a month, Kay was able to bring him to her house as a foster and gave him a taste of true family life. All of this was new for Bandit, as he had lived as an outdoor dog his entire life. He was a perfect jewel, except for a few shoe stealing incidents! He added to his skills by learning to use a doggie door and sleeping with Kay’s children. We had many wonderful applicants for Bandit but, we try to ensure that we find the PERFECT fit. Having to choose from many fantastic prospective parents was difficult but, Kay found the perfect combination in a home where Bandit can go to work with his parents, play with an active four-legged friend and be showered with love! Now Bandit lives with Ray and Curtis and their chocolate Labrador retriever Ranger. Ranger and Bandit play together all day. We are thrilled to have had a part in Bandit’s happy new life! |
