Excerpt:
Jez: I know
you do a lot of charity work.
SE: Yeah.
I'm actually starting my own charity.
Jez: Oh, really?
Tell me a little bit about that.
SE: It's called
Animal Avengers. It's going to be an animal rescue to get mainly dogs,
but any animals off the street and out of
the pounds and into good homes. Our focus is really going to be, as far
as the pounds go, finding the dogs or cats that other people
might not want to adopt because maybe they look all mangy and they need
a bath. They need some shots, or they need something
that other people don't want to deal with. Those are the ones that we're
going after. Not the cute cuddly ones, because it's obvious
they are going to get adopted. That's kind of our focus and we're planned
to do a bid launch party in L.A. and possibly New York.
In L.A., we're planning it around April 12. That's taking up so much of
my life right now. In every free moment I have, I'm trying to
pull that together because it's really so soon. I'm doing all this press
for Tomcats, so I wanted to help the charity. Hopefully, we'll
get
that launched in a big way.
Jez: So what are
some of the perks of being a big-time celebrity?
SE: Perks
would be getting invited to cool events that you'd never be invited to.
Being able to get in bars that used to be really hard to
get in. You get sent stuff in the mail from companies, like products to
try and stuff, which is always kind of a cool thing. But I think the
most important thing is the fact that we can use our celebrity status
to do good stuff like charity work. The others are perks, but I think
that what's important is making sure, if you have some sort of power,
to use it to its best advantage. Which is why I'm starting the charity
now. I think so many people do things like charities later in their career
when things slow down for them and they don't have anything else
going on. But, I think it's most important when things are going well,
and you can make the most of it. You can get the most people interested
in your product and your charity and get the most things happening that
way.
